At Janet's Garden Center, we focus on bringing our customers the best products. In our greenhouses, that means we do everything possible to grow the most beautiful and healthy plants. With almost 70 years of combined growing experience, we know how to nurture our plants, but we take our business one step further.
Each year we challenge ourselves to develop more environmentally sound practices. We always avoid growth regulating chemicals, so our plants will grow vigorously all summer long. We also avoid pesticides whenever possible. Instead, we use beneficial insects in our pest management program. We are currently testing organic fertilizers for next year. These organic fertilizers leave far less residue in the ground than synthetic fertilizers.
We not only persue more environmentally friendly practices for our store, we also hope to reach out into the community and develop local awareness. So far, we have taught classes on organic gardening, vegetable gardening, and rain gardens for better water quality.
